Stop ‘shoulding’ on yourself!

“I should do this”... “I should do that”… Sound familiar?

Using a powerful positive psychology reframe: swapping “should” for “could” is a simple shift that can be incredibly empowering by opening up possibility and turning pressure into choice.

Instead of reinforcing guilt or obligation, “I could” invites curiosity, action, and a mindset ready for change. It gently nudges us out of self-limiting beliefs and into constructive thinking, which is an essential part of any career transition.

Try it for yourself. Notice how freeing it feels to say, “I could explore a new path” or “I could update my Resume.” Each “could” is a step toward transformation, no matter how small.

The takeaway? Let’s stop shoulding on ourselves. You don’t owe the world perfection but you could take the next step toward the career you deserve.
